{December 31, 2006}   Say a big welcome…

…to the last post of the year two thousand and six.

I haven’t been at the computer much lately, save for some attempts (many in vain) to do my Literature Review for my final year project, but research papers are kind of at the back of one’s mind when it comes to the festive season of eating and partying. Which brings me to the point that it is New Year’s Eve today, which means that the stroke of midnight tonight is completely different from the stroke of midnight last night, and the night before, and the night before that, and every night before that since 2005 became 2006. No, the stroke of midnight tonight marks a transition into a new lease of life, an all new year.

And I speak to friends online and I ask them

“So how are you celebrating the new year?”

 And I hear

“Rotting at home”, “Bumming at home”…etc etc.

What is wrong with all you people! It’s the new year!! It’s the time to eat, drink and be merry (Ok, everyday for me is time to eat drink and be merry but humour me for a minute)!

I was intending to dedicate this post to accomplishments and disappointments in the year two thousand and six, but for the life of me I can’t think of what to write, I can’t remember what I accomplished (uh oh), and I do not see the point in immortalizing disappointments because some things are best left forgotten (or an attempt to be forgotten, and definitely not written in black and white).

And so, this post will now become simply a post of transition (plus I wanted the date to show December 31, 2006 =)). On 29 December two days ago, I got a bouquet of three sunflowers and a box of Ferrero Rocher. Pretty flowers, artistic wrapping, and a clever ploy and attempt to make me fat under a sweet veneer of beauty (poo… I am a pig but you will fulfill it in the physical sense soon =P but it’s ok I am not superficial [not That superficial]). Coupled with a sweet poem. xx

It is time to eat.

{December 23, 2006}   A day before Christmas…

…and I just had to fall sick. Woke up with a tight, painful throat and felt warm all over… but still, I got up at 5am and since I was up, I had to feed all the cats because they were all up too. I think they’re all having catnaps now (and yes, after knowing about cats sleeping habits, it’s no wonder they call it a catnap, catwalk too but that’s a different story).

The time is 11.14am, I have a sweet boy who’s gone to buy me lunch and who brought panadol up to my bed this morning. I hope my Christmas plans are not spoilt. Heat heat, go away, come again another day.

Being ill normally kills the appetite but my noisy stomach doesn’t seem to agree for some reason.

{December 22, 2006}   A lack of updates shows…

… that I am having a ball of a time alone at home.

And I am taking good care of the cats. I think the two cats outside (Ginger and Survivor) are getting fatter. I think I’m feeding them too much. I suppose the unceasing torrential rain the past few days has rendered them with nothing to do but sleep and eat, recipe for growing fat.

And the favourite little cat inside (Tom) who hasn’t been eating or drinking on his own for some time…. I prayed for him two days ago and lo-and-behold, the next meal he had was purely of his own accord!!!! The forcefeeding for the past few days has stopped because he willingly eats his dry food. I am so happy. The power of prayer. I hope it lasts and he continues to eat of his own accord (read: “his own accord” means coming to me and meowing and me bringing him to his food box so he can eat out of my hand. Yes, all the cats are terribly spoilt).

My new sofa has been delivered and I, as usual, am too lazy to use my nice new Canon Digital Ixus 850 to take a photo of it and post it online (because I haven’t figured out how to install Photoshop). But it’s a pretty L-shaped sofa that fits nicely beneath my loft bed and I am now sitting on it and typing.

Christmas arriveth in 3 days. I haven’t bought a present I was supposed to, I haven’t bought clothes for the new year either. Clothes shopping is in lieu. And the week after Christmas is to meet up with old friends for lots of Christmas lunches/dinners/teas.

And, Miss Snodgrass, please concentrate on your Literature Review. And savour.. the smell of sweet present and future aroma (literally, for those who know what my FYP entails, and figuratively, when FYP results come back).

 I am hungry.

{December 14, 2006}   For one month from today…

…I will be alone at home.

Amidst the cascading joy of the ability to throw wild parties and paint the town (in this case, my own house) red, I think I will miss them from time to time.

This afternoon at around 12pm, my Dad knocked on my room door and said “Thank you for the flowers!”

And I replied, “What flowers?”

I had mentioned the night before that I wasn’t sure what else to get them as a going away present and he said he’d think about it and let me know again….

…and this morning, a bouquet of beautiful red Christmas flowers in a big basket were delivered to my house… along with a poem he wrote to wish them Merry Christmas and a safe trip.

So sweet. Soooo sweet, even though the flowers were not meant for me.

=)

{December 12, 2006}   7pm, December the 12th.

The search of a more creative title has failed me at this point so the labelling of the title has been subjected to the most practical, apt description of a certain point in time in this portal.

 Ok so it’s drab. Poo.

The sun was as hot as it could be this morning and afternoon and I, being the avid gung-ho intermittent runner (ok FINE, just nuts), decided to brave the heat and do a late morning jog.

Bad idea. The heat had my feet burning in my shoes, and left me succumbing to an ever weakening willpower that was not about to bounce back. Jog, Jog, walk. Jog, walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk.

Moral of the story: Do not run in the direct heat of the blazing sun. If running is to be done during the hours when the sun is high in the sky, do it on the opposite side of the buildings.

I spent half of the day with double sided tape as my worthy companion. Yes, we are onto Study Two of our final year project. Lets hope the results are somewhat improved this time round.

I am hungry. But then again, I do believe there is a very fine line between hungry and greedy.

*rumble* (That’s how you tell the difference)

{December 12, 2006}   In a nutshell…

I have not made any updates because I have been busy. So, in a nutshell, here are 10 things.

 1) I have taken loads of fantabulous photos and have loaded all of them into my computer but I am too lazy to load them online because I have not installed photoshop to resize all my photos.

2) I have a new fan in my room so I can save electricity on cool days by not turning on the air-conditioning.

3) I bought a new sofa for my room….very close to the kind I’ve been looking for! But it won’t be delivered till 21 December and I am bursting with anticipation. Room cleanup is in order.

4) Tom (my cat) is old and sick and he’s not eating or drinking by himself anymore =(

5) My folks are leaving the country in 3 days time and I will be the lone ranger for a month.

6) I have eaten the entire container of pineapple tarts (they were yummy).

7) I just ate pineapple tarts 2 hours ago SO WHY AM I HUNGRY AGAIN!?

8) I got a nice poem today. It was really sweet.

9) I went to see the new Ikea and it’s BIGGGG I like it.

10) I am a very lucky girl.

{December 7, 2006}   Snowflakes are pretty…

And pictures speak a thousand words. I am the proud owner of a pretty snowflake Christmas Swatch watch which a sweet boy bought me.

I like.

 =)

{December 4, 2006}   OOOOO!!!

Ooooooo…..

 I’m thrilled. Excited. Estactic.

I have a new:

1) Fujitsu Tablet laptop

2) Canon Ixus 850IS digital camera

3) 2 new dresses for Christmas

4) Lots of new underwear

5) Shoes for Christmas

I am a happy girl. And here is the first post written on my pretty swivelly (swivelly?!) laptop. I’m all geared to resume my fyp and I shall bring it to the nearest coffee joint and clackety clack away.

I am easily pleased.

Yes, I sound materialistic.

But I’m cute anyway =)

I need to buy a laptop protective cover. Off to funan tomorrow. And I still need new clothes and dresses for the 12 days of Christmas and New Year’s as well =P
